Bryan is a city located in Brazos County, Texas. It is the county seat of Brazos County and is located in the heart of the Brazos Valley in southeast Central Texas. Bryan TX is located directly near College Station TX, which together create the Bryan-College Station metropolitan area. This area has a population of approximately 190,000 people, where Bryan TX alone has a population of 82,000.
In 1860, William Joel Bryan sold one square-mile of land near the railroad that became a townsite named "Bryan" in his honor. In the beginning, Bryan TX was quite a small stop along the Texas railway system. Bryan TX flourished quickly, and became an exciting center of business and trade. As the area continued to grow throughout the decades, Bryan TX added a number of city parks as well as shopping centers, restaurants, homes and other structures. Today, Bryan TX has maintained its integrity with quality schools, safe neighborhoods, and restored historical buildings.
